Comment to "Perfect Place to Play"

I think the Perlman is a brillant idea! It sounds private, stocked with the computers we need, and we get to be just a little bit rebellious in the process :P What could be better :)

Mark and I were talking last night about the headset/conference calling option, because his thought was that it might be more difficult to do this in the Perlman. This is true, as I don't think we can download software onto those computers for conference calling. But aside from this, for some reason I just feel like that would be weirder to play on the phone than playing with text, maybe just for me personally. Perhaps it's because we haven't done it, but trying to imagine it I think it would be somehow uncomfortable. I think I'll have to try it first - I also have to check my laptop's soundcard capabilities, anyway.

When you say conference call, what do you mean? Are we talking about buying a speaker phone, or using the computer as a phone? And if it is using the computer, how does that work? I didn't know there was such software.

Yeah, apparently there is software you can download and just have a conversation through your computer (if your soundcard has a microphone port) like a telephone. I haven't looked into it extensively, because, like I said, this isn't the most appealing option to me. Jason and Mark know more about it - if Jason would ever stop trying to get his real life together and come join in our whimsical little blog, here...

It's ok, Jason - we still love you. Don't let this stress you out.
